Joyce and I vacationed with Bill and Janice in Maui. Janice's son, Tyler, and his girlfriend were living in Makawao and we spent a considerable amount of time with them. We got to visit some parts of Maui that we had not visited before.
This is a slide show of the first two days which includes our first day flight and our tour of the Iao Valley and drive north from Wailuku to Kaanapali and finally to Makawao.
On the third day, we drove to Hana and to the Oheo Gulch to hike up to the Waimoku Falls. Our return included the drive on some rough roads to continue the ride around the island.
The fourth day started with breakfast at the Seabreeze Restaurant at the Wailea Golf Course. We then spent the major part of the day in Lahaina, walking, shopping and eating. We also drove north to Kapalua.
Janice was awakened by Tyler with information there was an earthquake off Tonga and there was a tsunami alert. It was cancelled shortly after but it had Janice and Bill up early watching tv. We ate breakfast at the Big Wave in Kihei. We decided to tour Haleakala and started with the Holy Ghost Mission and the Alii Kula Lavender Gardens in Kula. We then met with Tyler in Makawao and then visited with Taylor where she worked at a Health Food Store and ate lunch at the Stopwatch Bar & Grill. We then proceeded up to top of Haleakala and took lots of pictures and waited for the sunset and took more pictures. We dropped Tyler off and went into Paia for dinner at Charley's.
